dwell是live的高级替换表达，表示居住，栖身。

而dwell on sth可不是住在哪儿，它的意思是总是想着，一直在说（尤指不好或让人不快之事）。

In his speech, he dwelt on the plight^{1 of the sick and the hungry.}

演讲时他一直在说遭受疾病和饥饿折磨的大家所处的困境。

ay into sb的意思是痛打；斥责（某人），后面搭配about表示缘由。

这个短语和light into意思差不多，都表示痛打；口头上中伤。

In the middle of the meeting she suddenly laid into him for no apparent reason.

在会上她忽然无缘无故地把他训斥了一顿。
